Special seminar featuring Simons Foundation President David Spergel

Brown Physics and The Brown Theoretical Physics Center (BTPC), together with ICERM, are pleased to present a Special Seminar featuring Dr. David Spergel, President of The Simons Foundation, Founder of the Flatiron Institute, and Emeritus Charles A. Young Professor of Astronomy on the Class of 1897 Foundation, Princeton University, on Monday, February 24th at 1:30 pm in Barus & Holley Room 190.

Title: Flames, Clouds and Supernovae: Mathematics and Physics of Fractional Dimensional Boundary Layers

Abstract: Structures shaped by turbulence display both complex behavior and some remarkable regularities. I will describe attempts to develop the mathematical language to adequately characterize their rough geometry and understand how to interpret observations of these systems, and to explore the implications for understanding the physics that creates these objects. This talk will be about work in progress on this topic rather than a presentation of a definitive understanding of the complex physics.

Don't miss this exciting special seminar!
