Department of Physics Commencement Events: Sunday, May 29, 2022
Faculty who wish to partake in the procession and view the University Ceremony are asked to report to Brown Street, near Fones Alley, no later than 9:15 a.m. on Sunday. Please approach the lineup from Angell St. Faculty will line up behind the senior administration. Faculty will process through the Van Wickle Gates, down College and Benefit streets, and return to reserved seating on the College Green via Waterman Street to view the College and University ceremonies. Faculty who wish to process with the Graduate School and attend the doctoral or master’s ceremonies are asked to report to Waterman Street in front of Page-Robinson Hall no later than 9:15 a.m.
The procession steps off promptly at 9:30 a.m. Seniors must line up on Waterman St. no later than 9:15 a.m. Graduate students should line up on under the tent on Simmons Quadrangle by 9:15 a.m. Seniors, medical students, and graduate students process through the Van Wickle Gates and split off into their separate ceremony locations. Seniors will proceed down the hill to the First Baptist Church in America.
After the doctoral and master’s students pass through the Van Wickle Gates, master’s students will then head toward Meehan Auditorium for their ceremony, which will begin around 10:30 a.m. Doctoral students will head towards Pembroke Field for their ceremony at around 10:30 a.m.
The University Ceremony begins around 1:15 p.m. on the Main Green. The honorary and symbolic degrees are awarded here.
The Department of Physics Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. in Barus & Holley 166. After the undergraduate ceremony ends, the faculty will move to Barus & Holley 168 for The Department of Physics Graduate Commencement Ceremony, which will begin at 3:15 p.m.
