Physics Departmental Fellowships
Galkin Foundation Fellowship
The Galkin Foundation Fellowship is awarded each academic year to one outstanding senior graduate student in the Department of Physics. The Galkin Foundation Fellowship is made possible by Warren Galkin ’51, a Rhode Island native who received an Sc.B. in Physics at Brown.
Physics Merit Fellowship
The Physics Merit Fellowship is a departmental fellowship awarded to a senior graduate student(s) and provides funding for one semester the next year.
Travel Funding
Physics graduate students are eligible for travel funding up to $700 to match travel funding from the Graduate School. To apply, fill out the application form on UFunds. All master's and Ph.D. students in good academic standing are eligible. A requirement of the funding is to present a poster or give a talk.
External Fellowships and Awards
Brown’s Research Strategy and Development team maintains a list of potential grants, awards, fellowships and internships for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. The list requires a Brown email address. Students can also review the Graduate School’s external funding resources and SPIN database information.
Funding programs may change or stop accepting applications. Confirm that a program is active and review its current eligibility and deadline on the sponsor’s website.
Receiving External Funding
Students who receive external funding should send the award letter and supporting documents to the Graduate School at grad_external_funding@brown.edu and to their Program Administrator. Documents must be in English or include an English translation, state the total award amount and funding dates, and indicate whether payment goes directly to the student or through Brown.
