Xinsheng Sean Ling selected for The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

Professor Ling joins Fulbrighters from all backgrounds who inspire, innovate and contribute to finding solutions to challenges facing our communities and our world.

The Department of Physics is pleased to join the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, which oversees Fulbright program operations worldwide, and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in congratulating Xinsheng Sean Ling, recently selected for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to Argentina in the academic year 2025-2026.

The presidentially appointed 12-member Board supervises the Fulbright program worldwide and approves the selection of all Fulbright recipients. The Board indicates that Professor Ling’s selection is “a reflection of [his] leadership and contributions to society.”

The Fulbright program is devoted to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Fulbright is the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange program. As a Fulbrighter, Professor Ling will join the ranks of many distinguished program participants. Fulbright alumni have become heads of state, judges, ambassadors, cabinet ministers, CEOs, university presidents, leading journalists, artists, scientists, and teachers. They include 62 Nobel laureates, 95 Pulitzer Prize winners, 82 MacArthur fellows, and thousands of leaders across the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Since its inception in 1946, more than 400,000 writers have participated in the program.

The Fulbright Program’s goal of developing international understanding depends on participants’ commitment to establishing open communication and long-term cooperative relationships. As a Fulbright participant and representative of his country, Professor Ling will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with international partners in educational, political, cultural, economic, and scientific fields.

We are proud of Professor Ling and the prestigious recognition of the excellence that has become a hallmark of his academic life.

Congratulations, Sean!
