Ph.D. students Farrah Simpson, Rutendo Jakachira and Refilwe Tanah Bua were featured in USA Today's Black History Month Special Edition.

Congratulations to doctoral students Farrah Simpson, Rutendo Jakachira (president and vice-president) and Refilwe Tanah Bua (E-board), founding members of the Brown Bears National Society of Black Physicists (BB.NSBP) chapter who, together with BB.NSBP faculty advisor Dr. Joshua Burrow were featured as part of USA Today's Black History Month Special Edition! Brown Physics is pleased to see them receive this national recognition!

Farrah and Rutendo are co-founding president and vice-president of the BB.NSBP chapter; Rutendo is also a Google Ph.D. Fellow and co-founder of the Brown University Graduate African Student Organization (GASO). Refilwe Tanah Bua is a founding BB.NSBP e-board member and Dr. Joshua Burrow is a faculty advisor of the group.

Farrah and Dr. Burrow jointly remarked on this unexpected boon for their nascent NSBP chapter, saying "Being featured in the USA Today Special Edition for BHM is a tremendous honor for the Brown Bears: NSBP Brown chapter. This recognition emphasizes the significance of our collective efforts in creating a more inclusive space within the physics community. As we celebrate this month, we are reminded that diversity is a strength and a necessary catalyst for innovation. We look forward to continuing our mission of fostering community, promoting Black physics students' academic and professional development at Brown and inspiring the next generation of physicists through our commitment to equality and representation, just as Brown Physics alums Dr. Jami Valentine and Professor Stephon Alexander."
