There are 28 members of the physics faculty and about 100 graduate students in the department. Since we currently enroll about 15 new physics majors each year, the faculty-to-student ratio is quite high and opportunities for individual interactions and general discussions with faculty are abundant. All of the professional faculty teach, in addition to carrying out research programs, and all courses are taught by professors. You will also meet during your college years many of the graduate students in their roles as teaching assistants in laboratory sections, or in a research group with which you might become associated, or at colloquia, seminars, departmental social functions, etc.
