PURPOSE: To show stable Lissajou figures.
DESCRIPTION: Using the harmonics from a Fourier Synthesiser the Lissajous figures are created on the oscope. The outputs from the Pasco Fourier synthesizer are used for the inputs to the horizontal and vertical x-y mode settings of an oscilloscope. Using the two 1st harmonics will create lines, circles and ellipses. Using the 1st and 2nd harmonics will make figure eights. And so forth for the other harmonics. Any ratio of harmonic numbers can be used with their phases and amplitudes independently adjustable.
EQUIPMENT: Pasco Fourier Synthesizer is stored in the Heat Waves Sound cabinets on the shelf above the tuning forks. The oscilloscope is stored in the vault.
