4F30.10 Stirling Engine

PURPOSE: See some of the moving parts of a Stirling engine, and to discuss the Stirling cycle.

DESCRIPTION: This is the Pasco Scientific Visible Stirling Engine, as shown in the photos.  It has some of the important moving parts open,  such as the regenerator, the crank, and the displacer, so that observers can see how the engine works .  

Place it on top of a cold reservoir, such as container of  ice water or ice cream, and it will rotate in one direction.  Place it on top of a heat reservoir and it will rotate in the opposite direction.
