VERTICLE BILLIARDS 1D60.72

PURPOSE: To demonstrate that horizontal motion and verticle motion are independant.

DESCRIPTION: Hit a pool ball with a cue stick. A toggle switch simulatneously releases a ball from an electromagnet. The two balls collide irregardless of the force of the cue stick on the pool ball.

EQUIPMENT: Verticle billiard table stored in room 55. Low voltage power supply and C clamps.

SETUP NOTES: Set the electromagent current to approximetly 1/2 amp and be sure to place a "Warning Turn Off After Use" sticker on the power supply otherwise the electromagnet will burn out o if the current is inadvertantly left on too long. Place the pool ball at the tape on the ball holder to prevent rolling.
