PURPOSE: To show density.
DESCRIPTION: Cubes of equal volume but different densities. One is aluminum and another is wood. The wood is lignum vitae, a type of exotic ironwood that sinks. The aluminum cube is a finely machine hollow cube that floats.
EQUIPMENT: Aluminum and wood density cubes, fish tank.
SETUP NOTES: Cubes, stored in fluid mechanics. The fish tank is stored in the astronomy cabinet.
