1J30.50 Normal Force
PURPOSE: To show the normal force changes when the angle of the incline plane is changed.
DESCRIPTION: A mass is placed onto a digital balance which rests on an adjustable incline plane, as shown. The readout is displayed on the OHP.
EQUIPMENT: Pan balance with external readout for the OHP, mass, protractor, adjustable lab jack, as photographed.
SETUP TIME: 10 minutes. Note: Velcro is used to prevent the mass from sliding off the pan. Good angles to use are 30, 45 and 60 degrees.
