DESCRIPTION: A block of ironwood hangs from a Newton force scale and is immersed in an aquarium full of water, as shown in the photo at left. A close up of the ironwood, which is an exotic hardwood that is more dense than water, is shown in the photo at right The weight of the block is 10 Newtons. When submerged the weight is 2 Newtons.
