PURPOSE: To show that a magnet on a pivot held above a spinning disk will rotate.
DESCRIPTION: A push button switch activates a high speed spinning motor attached to an aluminum disk. Above the disk is placed a compass needle. Also, the small magnetic pointer may substitute for the compass.
EQUIPMENT: Arago's disk is stored in the drawer of the elctricity and magnetism cabinet.
