PURPOSE: To show that the an electromagnet has a field that is simililar to a bar magnet.
DESCRIPTION: A bar magnet is placed in a try on the overhead and covered with a glass plate. Iron filings are sprinkled to show the field of the magnetic dipole. The magnet is removed and in its place is put an electromagnet. Again, iron filings are sprinkled to show that the field has the same arrangement as the bar magnet.
