PURPOSE: To show how a lemon can be used as a battery.
DESCRIPTION: Pieces of zinc and copper are inserted into a fresh lemon. The lemon battery is used to charge a capacitor. The charged capacitor is then used to flash a bulb, light an LED or buzz a buzzer.
EQUIPMENT: Lemons must be acquired from the University food services using the small blanket account that the Physics department has established there. the zinc and copper are stored in the electricity and magnetism cabinets.
