PURPOSE: A large model for the torque induced on an electric dipole in a uniform electric field.
DESCRIPTION: Rub each end of the dipole with a paper towel and place it carefully onto the rotating stand. Turn the crank on the Wimshurst in a clockwise direction to create an electric field between the capacitor plates.
EQUIPMENT: Wimshurst, dipole, rotating stand, two capacitor plates.
